Can You Believe It!?!
So I was sitting in our "media room" (nothing glamorous, believe me!) playing on the computer, while my hubby was watching TV. I was surfing some blogs, and decided to check on my girl, Asela, who has a post including several different publication links. I was clicking through them to see if anything I had done recently fit into their categories, and came to the Cards Magazine link to find that they had a call with a deadline the same day I was looking! I thought "what the heck!", and submitted a few cards to them, AND THEY EMAILED ME LAST NIGHT TO TELL ME THAT THEY ACCEPTED ONE OF MY CARDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Talk about HAPPY DANCE!!! I was shrieking, SO excited (my first one), and I ran to tell Dave (said hubby who was now cleaning up a doggie no-no in the laundry room), who said in typical man voice, as if I was detailing to him the pros and cons of Barely Banana verses So Saffron in a card color combo, "great, honey". (crickets chirping) Can you believe that??? Tell me that I'm not alone, having a husband who can't get even the slightest bit excited for his loving stamper wife getting published??? I mean, yes, he WAS cleaning up urine --- but what excuse is that??? I mean, COME ON!!! Later, he DID come around to the point where he could at least fake utter enthusiasm - and after all, let's be real...that's really all I needed in the first place. {grin}
Now back to my story...
Thanks to Asela, Tracy Durcan, and like folk, inspiring me to put myself out there and submit something to be published, one of my creations will now be appearing in the August issue of Cards Magazine. (If you have been paying attention to the Card of the Weeks, you might remember which one is missing - I had to remove the pic until Sept. 1st.) SO, now I'm attempting to inspire all of you talented ladies out there, who haven't had the nerve to submit your work, to go out on a limb and try, because you never know what'll happen!
And that (just caught Forrest Gump again on TV the other day) is all I have to say about that.
xox,
k
Congrats on being published! It doesn't surprise me a bit! Good for you!
ReplyDeleteHooray!!! I am jumping for you. I know exactly what you mean about the man voice and the words used ... the lack of true excitement. I got the same thing when I was published in Take Ten. But good news - once he saw my work in that magazine and found out that I got a complimentary $15.00 magazine well then the smile was on that face and he even encouraged me to do it again. He was simply shocked when the next batch of cards sent didn't make the cut! *wink* Guys - gotta love 'em anyway. Anyway Congratulations for you!!! I;ll be watching to see your work printed!!
ReplyDeleteCongrats!
ReplyDeleteHooray! I am so happy with you and totally understand the hubby thing!! Not at all surprised as I love your designs and I think I know which one was accepted because I was looking for one that I thought for sure I saw on your blog and when I went to look for it a few days ago, could not find it. I thought I was crazy, but maybe I am not --- was it made with the Wild About You set?? Anyway, look forward to seeing the publication. Celebrate!!

ReplyDeleteAnd speaking of men... You are not alone, I assure you! When I told MY man that I would like to perhaps one day sell the cards I make (I'm still a beginner, but slowly getting the hang of it), he said: "Well, don't they have to be NICE then?"! Imagine that!!! Thank you for that, DARLING!!! LOL!
Congratulations - that's fanastic!
