April Cards (Part 1)

Okay, sorry for drawing this out, but I still don't have anything new that I'm able to show you yet, so I'll post the other card that I didn't already publish tomorrow. :)

This is a Lizzie Anne card, made with their Gettin' Hitched stamp set. This one is an awesome one for weddings - I love all of the images!!! Too cute!

Anyways, the bkgd is Bazzill Bling that I Cuttlebugged with the D'Vine Swirls folder. Ribbon is AC. Cord and rhinestone brads are SU!, but the large black brad is Bazzill. Images were colored with Copics and detailed with a Silver Stardust pen. Flowers are Prima. This is a 5 1/4 square card.

Well, I'm off to try to get some stuff done! Have a great afternoon!

February Cards

I'm without my camera for the time being, so I can't show you the Hanna stuff that I've been working on! Grr. So, I thought that in lieu of showing you my last Easter project today, I will show you a couple of cards that were pubbed in the Feb. issue of Cards, that I'm not sure I showed you before?!

This Pretty Princess card was shown on pg.71.

Fine Print...Cardstock - Bazzill Bling and Papertrey Ink; Stamps - My Favorite Things (Princess Birthday); Ink - Black Stazon, Brilliance Graphite, Pixie Dust Versamagic Dew Drop; Sakura Silver and Clear Stardust Pens; Copic Markers; Martha Stewart ribbon; Heidi Swapp Ghost Stars; Stampin' Up! Silver Cord; EK Corner Rounder

This Birds of a Feather card was shown on pg. 116.

Fine Print...Stamps - Lizzie Anne (L'Amour); Copic Markers; AC ribbon; Heidi Swapp Slide Clips; PP - AC; Bazzill Brads; Ink - Brilliance Graphite and Black Stazon; Sakura Stardust Pen; CS - SU!, PTI, and Bazzill Bling

Well, that's about it. I do want to mention a helpful hint, though, for those of you who are new to the blogging world, that in general, a word in a post or on a sidebar that is in a different color is a link. On THIS blog, all type that is in ORANGE is a link to the indicated website. I try to link the stamp companies used on a card in each post, as this makes finding products SO much easier for you guys! So just click the link! If I forget, just email me OR look on my sidebar for Sites View Worthy. Most companies I use are listed there!

Now, I'm off, but I will "see" you soon with a card, as soon as I can get my camera back!

My Heart's a Flutter

Hi All! No "new" cards to post, but I DID get the go-ahead to post a few LAD cards that will be featured in their upcoming catalog! I'll stretch them out a bit, to keep you coming back for more! ;)

I AM feeling a bit better, and I was able to get SOMETHING done last night, though it was a commissioned project that you've already seen, so nothing postable! Nevertheless, something to cross off my (what feels like) ENORMOUS list!

Thanks for all of your get well wishes! I appreciate every one. :)

And now I'm off to play with my little guy. I've got high hopes for Naptime, so I'll let you know how it goes! :) Have a great day!

xox,
Kirsten

Happy Turkey Day

Reposted: This card was published in the November, '07 issue of Cards, pg.17.Yes, you read that right! This is a Thanksgiving card in the beginning of January!!!

I'm just happy that I can finally post this card! Normally, I post it, and then if it's picked up for publication, I remove it, but not this one! I was able to stay patient enough to hold off till it was accepted, and so therefore, it's completely new to you now...well, unless you saw it in the magazine, of course! LOL This was published in the November '07 issue of Cards on page 17, and now it's been a long enough time since then, so I can finally show it to you!!!

The ribbon trick, I thought, was kind of cool! I really wanted to use this AC 1 in wide brown polka dot ribbon, but no matter how I put it on there, it took over the card - it was just too big. So, I got out my Sticky Strip, and put it where I wanted the ribbon to be. Then I rolled the ribbon into a tube, and stuck it down. Now it is less "intrusive", and adds dimension!

I made the photo corner with my Marvy Giga Scallop Square punch and paper trimmer with a coordinating "rust-like" AC color paper. I, then, spritzed and sponged the PP with some Soft Sky, to bring it out a bit more from the main image, and I stamped the sentiment on the transparency with my White Stazon.

Tomorrow brings another MFT card, but it card will be a sneak peek from one of the soon to be released sets! Think green! ;) So I'll see you back here then!

xox,
kirsten

Birds of a Feather

Doesn't this look just like notebook paper??? I used the Scenic Route paper and punched it with my SU! hole punch. I'm SURE that I'm probably not the first one to do that, but I thought it was pretty cool! I'm not extremely happy with the shadowing, but oh well! We can't be stamping geniuses all the time right!? ;) (Totally kidding.)

The Lizzie Anne bird was stamped on some Magnolia paper, and there is Stickles in the tiny hearts. The rest you can find out in the "fine print". It was a fun and quick card to make.

Tomorrow, I'll have a pic of the Cookie Exchange party invites that I had made with a little Papertrey and a little CTMH. Thanks to everyone for your job congratulations! I appreciate you all so much! Be back soon!

Kirsten

Measure Up!

No, I've not given up making cards! Quite to the contrary, actually! I'm elbow deep in a myriad of projects, ie., altering projects, making cards for a card class I'm having on Saturday, Cookie Exchange invites/favors/gifts/planning, Design Team stuff, play dates, etc... Oh yeah, and did I mention that I have an interview tomorrow morning at the hospital???

SO, thank you for continuing to check up on me, as I'm sure that you're all just as busy!

I DO have this card to show you. It's made with the Lizzie Anne set, High Hellos (probably my most favoritest LAD set! :)), and is a 4 1/4 sq. card. I think that it's pretty self-explanatory, so I'll skip the bla bla bla. If you have questions, check out the "fine print" at the end of the post.

Alright, I'm off on a play date! Have a great Tuesday, and I'll be back with a Hambo card tomorrow!

A Happy Birthday

Sorry to everyone for the lack of recent posts. I know that I promised you a Lizzie Anne card several days ago, and here I am just now posting it. Well, you know how it is with Thanksgiving, cooking, preparing, eating, waking from your tryptophan coma, etc... :) Now, though, I've got a moment to show you something I made a week or so ago.

This is a 4 1/4 in. sq. card that was very quick and easy to make. I used three LAD sets, Sketched Sentiments, L'Amour, and In the Background. The scallop was made with my Marvy Giga punch, and I just folded the Teal layer over top of it and wrapped it with a ribbon. I added some complimentary tone on tone flowers to the top third of the background, and stuck down the main image with dimensionals. Add the sentiment and brads and voila! It's a great one for that last minute birthday card you need!

Well, there are a few things that I wanted to make sure you knew/remembered, so here they are...

1. Make sure you check out my previous post for a chance to win an awesome unreleased Hanna Stamps stamp set!

2. The Hanna Stamps website is finally LIVE, so go check it out HERE.

3. MFT previews will be starting up really soon for their upcoming release, so stay tuned!

I think that that's about it! I'll be back soon with another LAD card for you! Have a great weekend!

Kirsten

Bridal Shower

For today, I have for you a little 4 1/4 bridal shower invitation. Of course, this is an invitation that I would never actually want to mass produce, but an invitation, none the less! I suppose, though, that there could be ways to make it a lot easier on myself. I never think of those things, however, until afterwards. :)

I used the new Hanna Stamps, Rainy Days set (for the umbrella), as well as the Tis the Season set (for the gifts), and Lizzie Anne set (Gettin' Hitched) for the sentiment. I stamped the umbrella first, then masked it off to stamp a couple of gift bundles. Of course, I ended up paper piecing the umbrella, so other than the handle, I didn't even NEED to mask, since the lines would all be covered up, I'm now realizing! LOL Oh well...

Anyways, I flubbed up the shadowing underneath the image, so I decided to cut the whole thing out (I know. I can be a bit anal.) and place it on Dimensionals. Now it has a natural shadow! LOL The green layer is meant to look like a gift. Hope you like it!

Well, I'm off to get something done. I feel like I've got a million things to do, and not enough of me to go around. I'm sure that none of you ever feel like that!? {wink}

Remember that tonight at midnight is the Hanna Stamps release of the new set, Rainy Days! She's so cute, you just can't NOT love her! For my next card, I want to make one using the adorable little ducky. Until then...

Be Mine

Sorry for the post delay, folks! I've been busily MAKING cards this weekend, but haven't taken time to POST any...till now. This is one that I made using my Lizzie Anne set, L'Amour. This will probably be my DH's Valentine's card. I couldn't help going ahead and showing it to him, though, but I told him to make sure and forget it by Feb. 14th. :) (Short order for most men, right ladies?!?) {Wink}

So anywho, I used some yummy sparkly things on this card, like MSL Glitter with a Glue Pad (flourish at the bottom), MM glitter letters, A Muse Twinkle Stickers, and my Stardust Pen (silver on the heart). Oh yeah, and I also used some Bazzill Bling, too (love that stuff!). The scallops were made with the SU! Slit Punch, and the ribbon is AC.

Hope you like it! It's a decent pic, but it really does look much better IRL. I can never capture all of the sparkle. Tomorrow should bring a sneaky peak of the newest Hanna Stamps set, so see you then!!!

Kirsten

Above the Rest

(Disclaimer - I'm a bit hyped up on caffeine right now, so bear with me...) Talk about multi-tasking, man, I love being a woman! :) At this very moment, I'm both quilting AND blogging about one of my recent stamping creation! Got to love those XY genes! LOL

Anywho, this is a publication reject that I really just loved, and was so disappointed when it was not picked up. These are Lizzie Anne stamps, High Hellos and Sketched Sentiments, and they're probably two of my favorite LAD sets. This is a 4 1/4 square card, and the top balloon is cut out of the box.

The main image is watercolored with ink pads and an Aqua Painter. I used Lilac, Teal, and Olive, with a touch of Sky. The tag was made with the Cuttlebug, and ribbon and cord are from Stampin' Up! The main image is elevated, and the sentiment is stamped in Teal.

Hope you all like it as much as I do! I'll see you back here tomorrow with another Hambo card! Have a great Hump Day! :)

Thinking Highly of You

This is a little 4 1/4 square Lizzie Anne card that I made with their new High Hellos set. Isn't this topiary adorable??? You can find the set here.

I watercolored the main image with SU! ink pads and an Aqua Painter. The ribbon and PP are from Crate Paper. I really like the color combination.

Well, I'm off to finish the laundry, and then off to the Y with the fam. Hope that you all have a wonderful weekend! Hopefully I'll get some stamping done!

Kirsten

Let's Do Lunch

Make sure that you don't miss THIS POST for your chance to win your own MFT stamp set, and more!!! Remember, you can enter without having to submit a card - that only increases your chances of winning - it's not mandatory! How much do you LOVE this set already?!? Not because of my card, but for the images alone! This, admittedly, is not my best watercoloring job, but I was in a hurry one night this week when my hubby was bugging (in his most lovingly way, of course!) me to leave for the Y. I didn't want to scrap the whole thing, though, so I covered up (I mean made some key design decisions) a couple of boo boos by creating jewelry for the ladies! The one in the plum has a silver chain belt, and the one in the pomegranate has a silver bracelet. (She had a necklace, too, but that was covered up by the awning!) I was trying to use a skin tone Prismacolor Marker for the speed of it, and it bled the Stazon in spots. Oh, well, you can't really tell now.

Anywho, this is Day 3 of My Favorite Things previews, and this set is called Meet Me at the Cafe. I LOOOVVVEE this set! Like I said yesterday, it's probably one of my faves. Here's the scoop... The set includes the awning and main image, of course, as well as EIGHT sentiments in this fabo font, the corner image and retro wine container you see on my card, a poodle, "cafe" sign, and 4 other items that can be placed on the table - cake, present, tall wine bottle, and slice of cake (with separate candle to add on if you wish!).

Now, about the card, I used my Silver Stardust pen to highlight around the plum layer, because I thought it need some extra punch. Also, I got this CC from the new IN Color chart (that I only recently discovered - I'm so out of the SU! loop, it's sad!), and it's definitely NOT one that I would have chosen on my own, but I thought that it looked kind of "Frenchie". What do you think? It's Olive, Pomegranate, Pale Plum, and Bravo Burgundy. Oh, and I used some River Rock for the background.

Speaking of SU!, I just placed my "must-place-an-order-to-remain-a-demo" order last night, and I must say that I'm really excited to get my package! I got a couple of punches, more paper, and some sets, too. Love getting "happy mail"! Which reminds me, I just got my very own Clip-it-Up, and I LOOOOVVVVEEE it, too!!! I'll take some pix later of it. I feel like a retail store - it's awesome! Definitely a must-have for all of your MFT sets you're going to get! ;)

Well, I think that about wraps this one up. Make sure that you check out the links to all of the other MFT Design Team (<-- here) members' blogs and galleries. And remember that you can get ALL of these sets (5 of them) on Oct. 1st for $65!!! I'll be back soon with more things for you to check out! Also, there are some SUPER exciting things coming down the pike, so you won't want to miss a day!!! TRUST ME! Sorry again for the super long post! {On second thought, no I'm not! You're free to skip what you want!!! (wink)} xox,

Beautiful Girl

Reposted: Published in the Feb., '08 issue of Cards Magazine, pg. 101.Finally, I got a PTI card posted with one of the new sets I bought a few weeks ago! I used my new Dew Drops for this one, in Purple Hydrangea, Spring Pansy, and Aloe Vera, and I was really happy with the coverage for the clear stamps! I'm still collecting the colors, but I need to figure out which ones I want first! Does anyone have a method for that? Stampin' Up! color coordinating list, maybe??? I thought I saw one somewhere, but I can't seem to find it now...

I cut out and elevated one of the flowers for some dimension. The CS is PTI, also, and the ribbon is from Jody's May Arts share. It's a yummy shimmery one, that you have to see IRL for the full effect. For the black, I just used my Black Stazon.

Well, I'm off to the YMCA! Trying to get myself motivated! Maybe my new Rihanna tracks I just downloaded to my iPod will do it!? Anyone staying up late tonight for the big reveal??? I'm thinking about it! The "treat label" set will be mine, for sure. I'll have to see the other three, but I LOVE what Nichole did with that cocoa tin! Talk to you soon!

A Day Late

No, it's not what you think. ;) I was planning on posting this card yesterday, but there was a small problem with that, in that, I hadn't made it yet! I don't know about you, but this weekend seemed like a whirlwind to me! Last week I was thinking - "Ooh, a three-day weekend with the hubby home! I'll be sure to get a lot of stamping done!". Well, truth be told, I DID. Just not as much as I would have liked. It was just too busy.

I knew exactly what I wanted to do with this card, though, and last night I was finally able to execute it. I went for a girly girl look, since it's for a Bridal Shower, and I was stoked to finally able to use some of that AC paper that I've been hording! :) I also used some of that yummy May Arts ribbon that I got in Jody's share, so this was a fun card to make!

This week, MFT is sponsoring the card sketch, over at CPS, and this is their sketch of the week. Make sure you head on over there, if you've never been the site! They're QUITE the source of inspiration!

I, of course, wanted to use the new stamp set from MFT, Shower Time, as well. This one is FULL of possibilities - I just love it! The tiny flowers can be added for such a sweet design element, like on the circle punched sentiment on this card and the scallop punched main image on my Bridal Shower paint can.

Well, I'm off to a MOMS Club meeting! I plan to have some Lizzie Anne on tap for you tomorrow, so stay tuned!!!

Snow Day

Reposted: This card was published in the December, '07 issue of Cards, pg.17.Sorry, I just had to use that title, since it's probably my only chance, living down in here in FLA!

This is a 5 1/4 square card that I made with my Winter Blast and Behind the Scenes sets from MFT. I also used my Headline Alpha from SU!. The card is pretty self-explanatory, so I'll skip the drawn out explanation! (Collective sigh of relief, I'm sure! ;))

We had a very nice visit with my brother and his family, although the scrapbooker in me is ashamed as I have not one picture to prove it! We went to the beach and pool and did a bit of shopping. So sad to see them go!

Hope you had a great weekend! (I know that it's already Tuesday, but since they left yesterday, it feels more like a Monday to me!) Now, I plan to stamp...depending on how long this Naptime lasts! (wink!)

Sneak Peek #4

Reposted: This card was published in the December/January, '08 issue of Paper Trends, pg.14.

This is another card from the upcoming set, Home for the Holidays, to be released on Aug. 1st by My Favorite Things. Sadly, I'm not sure that I will get the 4th set in time to post any sneak peeks, but I will try to keep 'em coming from the other three sets! For more info on this set, please see this post.

I used my AC paper and Copic markers for this. The tan paper behind the tree is actually separate. I messed up the background on the original piece, so I cut it all out with my scissors and craft knife, and mounted it on that one. The sentiment was cut from both a transparency and red paper by my new Cookie Cutter Dies, from QuicKutz. I, also, was able to use my seldom used buttons on this!

Well, have a happy Monday! Not sure what I'll be doing later today, but I hope you have a good one! See you tomorrow!

MFT Sneak Peak #1

It's almost time to get out those wallets and CC numbers - My Favorite Things is releasing 4, count them 4, new sets on August 1st!!!

I will be posting cards from each set, leading up to the big day, starting today! This adorable mini set is called Back to School. It includes the teacher, with a pointing stick in her hand (I've omitted the stick for these two cards to show some of the versatility that Kim plans for all of her sets, not excluding this one!), a blackboard, stack of books, globe, book bag, an apple, and 2 sentiments!

[Reposted: This card was published in the Aug./Sept., '07 issue of Ready, Set, Create!, pg 117.]

For the first card, I wanted the teacher to look more like a mom. I'm picturing her standing by the front door, holding the book bag, to make sure that her own star pupil doesn't leave it behind. :) I'm sure that sounds familiar to some of you! Also, I stamped the sentiment in three lines, so that it fit into the circle nicely. So nice to have clear stamps for that! No stamp-a-ma-jig! Other items used were Michael's ribbon and the SU! Slit and Circle Punches.
The second card shows the well-loved teacher that the little star pupil treated to an apple. ;) The black layer is embossed with my Traffic CB folder. I colored both cards with my Copic markers, and used one of them to "spritz" some color on this teacher image. The scallops were created with the MFT set, Setting the Stage, then I just cut around them. The bottom of the black layer is pierced below the ribbon. The ribbon is SU!, and so is the Large Oval Punch.
I chose to use the same PP for both cards, by Doodlebug. It just screamed Back to School to me, with the alphabet printed on it in primaries. The CS used was BB, Stamper's Select, Real Red, Pumpkin, Brilliant Blue, and Wasabi. Hope you like them! Check back in tomorrow for a little Home for the Holidays! :)

Oh So Sleepy

So I stayed up all night reading HP7 last night, going to bed at 5:30, with my little monkey waking at 6:30. Needless to say, I'm a bit sleepy, yet here I sit. I'm here on my computer, posting a card! I didn't mean to stay up all night, it just happened, ya know! Those HP books are so impossible to put down, especially when you get to like the last third of the book!

Anywho, here's the last card that I made in this series. I used that fun Stem Sayings again, with my Bodacious Bouquet, and I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. Not sure if you can tell in the pic, but the flower and leaves are dry embossed.

That's about enough for now. Going to try and take a quick nappie before the little man gets up! Talk to you soon!

Dream Big

This is another of my quick and simple cards that I made the other day. (I retook the pic of the last one, too - I think it's much better.) This is a super clean layout, but that's what I wanted for this card. I like them in a set, so maybe I'll take a pic of all three later...

I doing a little babysitting today. I was hoping to get a bit more reading done, since my darling angel (no sarcasm at ALL) is a bit preoccupied with his "fiance". {There was an "interview" of my little dear in the MOMS Club newsletter this month, and this is the girl that he will marry someday. Or, in his words, this year. (grin)} However, I haven't been doing a lick of that, and instead, been taking some time to do some much needed cleaning. Well, and a bit of blogging! (wink)

Hope you all have a fabulous day, and I'll talk to you tomorrow!

Thanks So Much

Reposted: This card was published in the December, '07 issue of Cards, pg.161.

I think that I'm taking my pix at the wrong time of day, lately. Today, it was close to dusk, so I think that's why all of the cards that I photographed are showing up with a weird cast to them.

Anywho, I just thought that this little flower turned out so cute! I spent a couple of hours on another card I made the same day (at Mimi's house), and about 5 minutes on this one, and I like this one 100% better! Don't you love when that happens! lol I'll post that one later in the week. For the next 3 days, though, I'll share some matching clean and simple cards that I made recently.

I was able to play with some of Mimi's new stuff, including Stem Sayings, Little Flowers, Scallop Circle Punch, and Think Happy Thoughts. I Cuttlebugged the Scallop punch with my Bubbles folder, and only inked part of the Stem Sayings because of the small card (4 1/4 square). And I really like the little ribbon leaves.

Hope you like it, and that you have a great Monday! See you tomorrow!
