Wyatt's Newly Finished Super Hero Quilt!
Here is a couple of pix of the new super hero quilt that I made for MY little Superman, Wyatt. A wonderful friend gave me a bundle of Batman and Spiderman fabrics, and this is what I did with them. Wyatt absolutely adores any character that "fights bad guys", so these fabrics were right up his alley.
If you're at all familiar with quilting, then you've heard of the Yellow Brick Road pattern. It's a beginner pattern that I've used several times for different quilts over the years. This is a variation of that pattern. I was a bit hasty when cutting out the pieces and strips, so I had to make a few "design decisions" and alter the pattern a bit. This is what I came up with. LOL After all, my little recipient didn't mind a bit! :)
Oh my goodness, this is fabulous! My daughter would die for this! She loves her superheroes!!
ReplyDeleteAwesome. I am sure Wyatt will be cuddling with this for years to come. Quilting is something that I would like to get into, but I can't justify adding one more hobby right now. ;)
ReplyDeleteOh how fun...I am currently working on a Christmas quilt for my grandson (my first quilt)...Can't wait to finish it and let him see all the snowmen!
ReplyDeletethis is fantastic! I just happened to be doing my blurfing on the couch and my 3 year old suddenly exclaimed! Spiderman and Batman! Did you make that for ME?! I laughed and told him that no, mama doesnt know how to quilt, that someone else made that for her little boy. Then he needed to know his name. does he like spiderman? How old is he? Can he come over to play? hahahhaa.
ReplyDeleteI love it! As an avid quilter who hasn't in SOME time, I now want to get back to it. I think I have more scraps than stamps - if that is possible. And with three new grandkids - I can see the possibilities. Very cute and I know he will love it too!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!! Glad you're getting used to machine quilting. I've never tried a Yellow Brick Road but have heard lots about it. I did a bunch of flying geese for a class I took a few weeks ago. Much easier on the new machine!!
ReplyDeleteYou inspired me so much that I already dug out the scraps and cut away! Can't wait to finish it!
ReplyDeleteYou're my hero!! This is amazing. A quilt is definitely on my list of things to do!
ReplyDeleteYour quilt is FANTASTIC! I know your son will love it. I have a friend who's son is into all those great super heros - I may have to use your idea and create one similar for him. I am just finishing up my first quilt for my son's girlfriend and have enjoying making it!
ReplyDeleteWOWZERS!! How cool is that?!! You are amazing girlie..I'm sure Wyatt will love it :) BTW thanks for the enabling..evil grin!
ReplyDeleteKirsten, this is amazing. Wow, girl! You are really doin' it all...the stamping, the quilting, the sewing the bag! I'm in awe of you!
