Merry Christmas

Hi All! I'm writing this as I'm sitting here completely exhausted from a day in hospital orientation, grocery shopping, child playing, and child bathing. I'm thinking about how much I'm going to miss my little monkey again tomorrow, how I need to make my 6 dozen cookies, finish my "recipe books" for my cookie party, and go to bed. Not sure if the cookies are going to get made tonight...

Thanks to everyone wishing me luck on my job. Not much to screw up today! I just sat, and sat, and sat (this reminds me of Wyatt's Once Upon a Potty book! LOL), and listened to people drone on about things that I already know. For those interested, I'm going to be working in an area hospital, in the Outpatient Surgery department. It'll be a part-time gig, but I'm going to seriously need to rethink my time management! I'm at the present, VERY overwhelmed with all that I need to do. Two weeks before Christmas is not the ideal time to start a new job, after over 3.5 years of being a SAHM!

Please forgive my venting. I'm not in the best of moods. I did want to show you this card (another S-A-S card) and let you know (those who were wondering) how today went. Tomorrow will be more orientation, but will be more applicable to what I'll be doing in the unit. I just have to keep reminding myself that I'm getting paid for this, and we need it!!!

Now, onto the card. I embossed the trees with White EP, and added glitter glue to the trees. The bkgd was (obviously) dry embossed with my Cuttlebug. The colors used were Sky, Bayou, and Pomegranate, and stamps sets were Lovely as a Tree and Fancy Flexible Phrases.

Thanks for dropping by to check in on me, and if you've read this far, God bless you! Have a great night, and as soon as I'm able, I'll show you a card from the new Hanna set and my Cookie Party projects.

xox,
Kirsten

  5. Your card is gorgeous. I love how you put it together, and the colours you used. Awesome. Wishing I could help you out--you sound swamped right now. It is a hard time of year to go to work. I'm off on sick leave and waited until Jan 14th to return, just so I wasn't overwhelmed over Christmas. Hugs.

  8. Hang in there! whenever you start something new it will be overwhelming, but keep the reason in mind, the one reason why you're doing the new job and that will help you thru the few initial days and then you'll be ok.

Hang in there will all that you have to do! I am sure you will bring the same excellence to your new job that you bring to the stamping community!

  12. Beautiful card Kirsten! Keep ya head up girlie! It will get bettah!! Just try to keep in mind you've had 3 years at home with your little man which is alot more than some people do! I had to go back to work after 4 weeks with my little girl and I hated every minute of working after that then when I was finally able to be a SAHM she was already in school!LOL!

  13. Wow - what a classy card. Love it!
That is one of my favorite stamps and you have done such a pretty card with it. I think I need to get that set out and ink it up again; the whole set really is lovely. Thanks for inspiring me.

  15. Don't know how I missed this yesterday, but yes--I am crazed too! I have at least a dozen things to do yet, and a few of them--like 4 dozen cookies need to be done for a cookie exchange by Sunday, but hey--we might have terrible weather so it might be postponed. LOL Sorry, now I am venting. I was glad to hear that you survived those boring hospital orientations. I am a medical transcriptionist and have been through my share of those as well. Hang in there, girl. It should all be worth it! Your cards (both above) are just gorgeous. I love the white trees in this one. I also love that you had the girls stamp the tree on the blue cs for the other one. Terrific idea to save time coloring. I like that one too. The color choices are different, but they work great together and match that paper very well. TFS with us and hang in there, girl! Christmas will be here and gone before we know what hit us! :D

  16. Kirsten, I soooo know what you are going through, I started a new job about 6 weeks ago, after being a SAHM for four years, and I don't know if I am coming or going at the moment, I haven't made any crimbo cards yet!!!!!! still haven't finished my crimbo shopping, let alone done any proper housework or proper grocery shopping in ages, I do love my new job and especially the money but not loving being away from home, lol. Sooo much to do but not enough time to do it in - chin up I am sure it will get better!!!!! he he
