MFTeaser: Reading Flopsey

Sorry about no post yesterday. I have tons of things to show you, but couldn't muster up the energy to do all of the editing that they required. I tell you, at least for my computer/software, it takes less time to make a card than it does to edit a few things! I just spent the past 2 plus hours this morning editing all of my stuff. Poor Wyatt is bored out of his mind!

Anywho - enough grumbling! This is one of the 6 new MFT sets that will be released tomorrow night, called Reading Flopsey. Isn't he adorable! I just love this little guy!

He's colored with Copics and I used my Cosmo Cricket PP as my color inspiration. I also love that little Prima! It's sort of "dusted" with something almost feeling like Liquid Applique, and they are so pretty. I used my new Bella Baubles, too - they are the olive ones. You can't tell that from the picture very much. Ribbon is from PTI, as is the CS.

The sentiment is cute too. It says, "Good friends, like good books". I stamped that in Ruby Red. On the inside it reads "let you pick up where you left off."

Now that's about all about the card. Make sure that you check out all of the other DT-ers (links on sidebar) for all of they wonderful creations! And here's the deets for the release party tomorrow night...

My Favorite Things (www.mftstamps.com) is having a New Release Cocktail Party on Wednesday, October 1 from 9-11 p.m. Eastern time. This month there are SIX new sets being released, plus a new storage system for your MFT stamps that you are gonna love!

Head over to the MFT forum on www.splitcoaststampers.com to find out all the details and to find out how YOU can be the next MFT Guest Designer. We hope to see you there on Wednesday night.

Till later. I'll have another Teaser tomorrow for you!

It's Saturday Sketch Time!

For this week's card, I used my new Pink Cat Studio set. I love these kitties, and I'm not even a cat person! I also love this sketch. You can find it on Lauren's blog, right HERE.

I squeezing in a quick post, because it's a quarter after midnight, and I'm dead tired. We've been having much fun with Dave's cousins, so I've not had much computer time. I've been beading my fingers to the bone, though! I love how quickly pretty jewelry comes together! Quicker than cards, even - well, quicker than "I" make cards! LOL

I used Cosmo Cricket paper, Copics, and some circle punches on this. Ribbon is PTI, and the tag punch came from SU!.

And now I'm off to bed, but before I go, I want to list the other girls on Lauren's sketch team. Feel free to click away for more inspiration! Till later...

It's Never Too Early...

to start on your Easter/Spring cards...

So this is it! My last Prettie Thursday! I just want you all to know that even if I'm not a Prettie Girl, you can still feel free to refer to me as pretty, any time you want! I will not stop you. That being out of the way, I'll talk about the card...

This is an image that I used in this post, but I stamped it in a different direction this time. I like it this way, as well. He (or she - it IS pink) just can't seem to get that last bit of shell off of him! LOL

I paper pieced the shell with this Imaginisce Easter paper, and I love it like that! So Easter-y! I also used SU!'s Everyday Flexible Phrases for the "happy spring" and Kim Hugh's Pretty Birds set for the "peep!". (Thanks again, Mimi! :)) Buttons are from Creative Cafe.

Well, I want to thank Christie for allowing me to play with her images for a few months!!! Also, thanks to the awesome girls on the Paper Pretties team - it's been nice getting to know you, if just a little bit better! You've all been such sweethearts!

I hope that your Thursday is going well, and I'll be back soon with some sort of eye candy for you! :)

Diaper Card Pouch

I'll preface this by saying that my light bulb on my light box has burnt out, and I haven't begun to search for another one, so the lighting is bad. :( The paper is actually a light blue, not this weird white!

This is a little diaper card that I made while playing around in my room the other day. I had saved an invitation that I had gotten a while back from a friend. I used it as my inspiration for this card. It was flat, though, and I wanted this to be dimensional and stand up on it's own, so I tweaked it. Now it forms a pocket that can hold things, like this onesie!

I used a sheet of Crate Paper, and stamped it with PTI's Bitty Baby Blessings in various colors. I used cloud scissors to make the scallops and my Scor-Pal for the folds.

In the open picture, below, you can see the sentiment and the cutie elephant from the set. I paper pieced him from the same paper pack, and used my Nesties for the circle cutting and embossing.
And for a close-up...
Well, that's all for today. I'm sure that you've already seen/heard, but I wanted to also spread the word about Cammie's blog candy. If you've not been to her blog for this ENORMOUS give-away, then get to clickin'! It is for a wonderful cause and a GIGANTIC prize, so don't hesitate to take part!

And now, I'm off! I just discovered beading, and now I've got to get back to a bead store this morning! My cousin is in town, and that's her "gig", so she's "dragging" me off to look at more gorgeous beads in my local bead store. You know, I've been needing a hobby...for all of my spare time. :) I just can't say no to a good craft! LOL

Just THINK of all of the altered and stamped Altoid tins in my future, holding handmade jewelry for my friends and family! I'm giddy just thinking about it! ;) You should see the cutie Christmas book mark that I made for my sister for her birthday! Maybe I'll take a picture later...

Till then...

Spooky Treat Set

This is a little treat pouch and card set that I made with Lizzie Anne's Spooky set. I had to pick up some Candy Corn this year for some sort of cute gifty thing, and here it is. (I still have some left, though, so it might "sprout up" again soon. :)

I just scored a long 1/2 sheet of CS at 4.5, 5.5, and 6.5, then attached a 1.5 inch piece of CS (scored at .75) to both ends to make a pillow pouch type of thing. (Before that, though, I cut and embossed the window with my Nesties!) I created a tag with more Nesties and an image from the set. The candy is in a cello bag from SU!. I stamped candy corn on the twill, and finished it up with more ribbon and some faux stitching. Here's the card. I kept it simple, but I wanted it to coordinate, so I added some faux stitching to it, too. You can't tell, but the body of the spider is slightly elevated on a glue dot.
So, that about wraps it up! Will be back soon. Later Gator!

Here's my card for Lauren's SSC. I've got to keep this post super short, but I'll tell you that the PPs are from Cosmo Cricket and the stamps are from Pink Cat Studio.

Cupcake Kind of Day

(Please scroll down to the post that I wrote late last night. I don't want it to be missed.) This is a little gift box that I made for a friend who has been going through a rough patch, recently. I thought that she would appreciate a little cheering up, so I gathered up some supplies, and set to work. She said that it made her day, so I guess it was a success! :)

The box was, I believe, a 4.5 in cube. I used two pieces of 4.5 x 9.5 CS and scored at 4.5 and 9, giving a 1/2 in strip to adhere the pieces together. The bottom was a 5.5 in square, scored around at 1/2 in to adhere to the bottom of the box. (The corners were cut out to make folding easier.)

The image is a Chichibouli (Cecily Cinnamonsticks), from Stamping Bella, and she's colored with Copics. There is also lots of shimmer on the image that you can't see in this pic. I cut out the scallop oval with my Nestie die on a double layer of cardstock slightly lower than the top of the die, so that it made a little card. The sentiment is from Impression Obsession.
The little items came from Target's Dollar Spot, but I loved the cutie packaging. I knew that it would be cute with one of the many cupcake sets that I have! The green "grass" was some Celery paper that I cut in tiny strips and crimped. PP is from SU!, as is the ribbon and brads. I sponged the Celery handle for some depth.

Well, that's it for today! Tomorrow should bring you a SSC card, so I'll see you back here then! Till later!

Not My Usual Bla, Bla, Bla

So, as I was browsing blogs today, I noticed on JulieHRR's that she posted an adorable calendar made with an A Muse download-able template. Now, I KNOW that in the past few weeks, I've drooled over numerous projects made with this very same template (and the A2 version), but I never noticed, until today that all of the proceeds for the sale of the template were going to The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

I immediately clicked on the LINK, purchased the template, and made my donation.

You see, this strikes a very sad and special chord with me, because my beautiful mother passed away from one of these very cruel diseases, Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma, 7 years ago. She was way too young and my very best friend. Her death left me with a significant hole in my heart that took a very long time to heal over. She never had a chance to meet my little Wyatt, and I think that hurts me the most. I miss her terribly every day, and I always will.

Her name was Barbara, and she was supposed to die of old age before the disease got to her. The chemo treatments worked for a while, but then she'd have to move on to another one, each progressing treatment having more side effects. After five years of her fighting, she lost her battle.

This isn't a very rare story, as far as cancer stories go, but the point is this... There IS a cure for this awful disease out there somewhere, and I believe that given enough time, research, and FUNDING, it can be found.

This is a very small thing to do, but if we ALL donate - even if it's just the $4 minimum to buy ONE of the calendar templates, then it's a BIG difference! I mean, after all, who wouldn't want to receive a gift like THIS?

Now, you folks know, if you've been reading my blog, that I never do this. I just really felt like I NEEDED to say something to spread the word on this today. And with that, I'll step off of my soap box.

Kirsten

Hi Ho, Hi Ho, It's Off to Post I Go...

Can you believe that this is my second-to-the-last Paper Pretties card that I'll have for you as a Prettie Girl!? I can't!

Little Sophia was colored with Copics, and paper pieced with some SU! Flower's for You PP. The button was one of a bunch of buttons that Mimi gave me on a recent "play date". :) (Can you tell I'm on a major button phase right now?!) Thanks, Mimi!

It's a simple layout, but it's one that I enjoyed because I got to play with the different patterns in the paper.

Well, that's about all for today! Have a good one, and catch ya later!

A Pretty Boo

Here is a Halloween card that I made with the LAD Spooky set. I'll keep this post quick, as I've got a lot to do this morning, but I do have some things to show you. I used my Imaginisce Hallowhimsey PP and my Pebbles Pearlescent Chalk on this. The ribbon is May Arts and there's some Bella Dots on the bottom.
I stamped the ghost with Versamark and then quickly pounced some shimmer chalk on the image. It makes quite the pretty ghost! :)

And now I'm off! Tomorrow will bring another project, so "see" you then!

Aw, Nuts!

As I was sitting back, admiring my lastest creation, using PTI's Punny Valentine set, I thought... Awwwe, CRAP! Those are SEEDS, NOT NUTS!!! Grrr... LOL Oh well, my wonderful friend, Mimi, loved this "GIFTcard" anyways!!!

Mimi is trying her hardest to get me as hooked on sunflower seeds as she is, but I'm resisting. She likes to "eat" (I put that in quotes, because there's a lot more WORK involved in this snack, then EATING! :)) these while she stamps and she has a self-proclaimed "bag a day" habit. Well, it's like "when in Rome...". When I'm at her house, I try them, but I spend much more time working at those babies, then I do stamping! Maybe I'm just not practiced enough... Hmm...

Anywho, back to the project. I used Pure Poppy, and scored at 5 1/2, like a regular card, then two more times at 4 1/2 and 6 1/2 to make the top. Next, I centered the Nestie die and cut and embossed. I stamped the front with Polka Dot Basics - weird thing happened with the Poppy ink on Poppy CS, though. It shows up more like copper than red! Oh well, I still liked it - sort of matched the brads!

For the main image, I used my Marvy punches. The heart is from Limitless Labels. I also used one of the label stamps from the set to make the stripes on the Double Ended Nestie die. The nut is from Punny Valentine. Ribbon is PTI's Berry Sorbet. Here you can see how it opens up for the sentiment. I covered the brad prongs with some white CS that I also cut and embossed with a Nestie. I cut out another Double Ended and trimmed off the ends for the sentiment. I just stamped and tucked the ends under the red. I didn't want this side to be embossed.

Well, that's about it! Hope you like it, and FYI - I've been having fun with my little treat bags and containers, so you'll be seeing more of them very soon! (Provided you come back! HaHa? That's funny, right?! ) I like to browse snack and candy isles for gift ideas. :) Till later, and Happy Monday!

Trick or Treat

This is my sample for this weeks SSC, over on Lauren's blog. I used my PTI set, Spooky Sweets II for this, and some Imaginisce PP. You can check out Lauren's card and her sketch HERE.

This is another card that I putzed around for a while on! Geesh, I hate when that happens!

The deets are pretty straightforward, so I'll skip most of the bla, bla, bla. I'll just say that the brad comes from Imaginisce, also, and the purple scallop circle was made with my Nesties. The stamping in the center of it was made with a stamp from PTI's Borders and Corners Circles set.

And now I'm off! Make sure that you check out these girls, for their take on the sketch...

A "GIFTcard" for a Dear Friend...

I'm not sure if this is a new concept or not, but I don't remember seeing something quite like this before. (I'm always worried that ideas get tucked back into the recesses of my mind, to later resurface as MY idea! LOL!) This project is a treat holder, or what I like to call a "GIFTcard", as it opens with a sentiment inside, like a card! :)

I used my Halobella and PTI's Mixed Messages and Boxes, Bags, and Tags. The inside sentiment (which I LOVE!!!) is from Repeat Impressions. I found it at StampFest. All paper (and ribbon) is from PTI, including the PP that I used to paper piece her skirt. I colored the rest of her with Copics, and added much clear Stardust pen to add detail and shimmer. See close-up below...I used my Creative Memories Circle cutter to cut most of the way around the circle, and then my paper snips for the leg/foot. The flowers are all from MSL punches. I also used some rhinestones, Bella Dots, and rhinestone brads for some bling, and my Nestie die for the sentiment (below).
If you can't read the sentiment, it says "Please God... If you can't make me thin, make my friends fat." {Insert cheesy grin here.} I love the contrast of the angel and outside sentiment with the chocolate and inside sentiment. :)

The top of the bag is stapled into the top of the card to keep it in place. It kind of "hangs" there from the staples (which are covered up with the ribbon on the outside). I will probably put this in a PTI card box, as it obviously won't fit in a regular envie.

I've made a few of these, with different variations on the bottom and size - as I was using different candies. I'll be posting them all here, in the next few days. They are quite fun and easy to make.

I just used my Scor-Pal with a piece of CS cut to 3 5/8 x 11. Then, I scored at 4 1/4, 5 , 5 3/4, and 10 inches. Lastly, I added a 1 3/4 x 3 5/8 inch piece, scored at 1 inch, and adhered that side to the bottom of the box, so that it creates the "flap" to place the Velcro dot on. Then, you just decorate as desired! Easy peasy! No need for a pattern even! (Thank goodness, too, 'cause I hate making those! LOL)

Well, that's about it! Have a good one, and I'll be back soon!

Thanks a Dozen!

It's Prettie Thursday!

Here's my Prettie card for the week. I used Sweets for the Sweet again, and this time, I like the card much better! I also used a sketch that I adapted from a scrapbook layout in a Scrapbooks, Etc. magazine. It's not the same, but it has similar elements.

I used Heidi Grace PP and some PTI and Prism cardstock. Ribbon is SU and those are little Bella Dots at the bottom. You can find those here. The image is colored with Copics and accented with my clear Spica pen.

Well, I hope that you like it! That's all I have for you today! Have a good one!

Heaven Sent

This is an ATC that I made for a MFT DT swap, like a MILLION years ago! I don't know how I managed not to post it, but I found it on my computer recently, and thought that I'd get it up here! LOL

I used MFT's Baby First set for this. Paper is all PTI, as is the ribbon. I used my Nesties for the main image, and paper pieced the baby blanket. The white top layer was made with my Threading Water punch.

Here's a detail pic of the card.

Thanks go to Jen for hosting the swap! I like making these mini cards! I also loved receiving them from my MFT buddies!

Alrighty, off I go! Have a great day!

Where Flowers Bloom...

This is a Papertrey card, made with my new Remember stamp set and Flower Garden Sentiments. I used the new Pure Poppy, and I'm now in love with RED!

It is a 5 1/4 square card. I stamped the images on the main panel, and cut out some extra petals for the large main flower to add dimension. The butterfly is two layers, one Berry Sorbet (sponged with Poppy) and one Linen Velum. I tied the two together with Linen Thread. The "trail" is from my Ornare template.

I layered two buttons together for my sentiment flag. One is from SU and I think the other is from Creative Cafe. Ribbon is PTI, and PP is SU.

Well, I thinks that's it! Stop back by tomorrow for a project that I'm posting MONTHS after I made it! It's still cute, though! ;) Till later...

An Elf and an Appletini

I love this martini with the ornament hanging on it!

This is one of the new sets (called Merry Christmas) that was released from MFT on Wednesday night (along with 6 others!!!). Can you read the sentiment? If not, it says "What I need right now is an Elf and an Appletini". LOL Too cute!

I'm not sure if you can tell, but there's Stardust all over the main image, and the bulb is Crystal Effect-ed. I used Imaginisce and PTI PP, and my new-ish QuicKutz snowflake die. It makes a nice-size pretty snowflake, but it WAS a bit labor intensive. I need one of those MSL snowflake punches! LOL Also used was my Nesties, May Arts ribbon, and SU! brad.

Give Thanks

This is a card that I made for Cindy's MFTSC46 that she posted yesterday in the MFT forum. I really like this sketch! I also really like the October Afternoon patterned papers that I used! (Shh, they were sample give-aways from CHA...)

The set that I used is called, We're Not Scared, and it's brand new from MFT! It also comes with a couple of cutie owls and some foliage stamps.

Things used are buttons from Moxxie, ribbon from PTI, and sentiment from MFT's Falling for You. Linen Thread is in the buttons, and I colored the image with Copics.

Well, that's about it for today! Check back tomorrow for sample for Lauren's Saturday Sketch Challenge! Hasta luego Winnebago!

Bugs and Fishes

Welcome to Prettie Thursday here on my blog! :) This little guy is from the Bugs and Fishes stamp set, found here.

I used some Bo Bunny PP for my color inspiration. The image was colored with Copics, and I added a touch of white gel pen for the reflection in the mask. Ribbon is PTI and a scrap of (I think) Michael's ribbon.

I used my wonderful friend, Mimi's, new SU scallop punch for the border. I think I MAY have to bite the bullet on this one. I DO like the nice round scallops without the holes, as well as my Threading Water punch. I think I COULD use both after all! The button is from Creative Cafe.

Check back in tomorrow, because I will have my sample for this week's MFTSC46!

MFTeaser: Branch Out

I sure wish that I could get a good picture of this card. It really is much prettier IRL.

This is the new set, Branch Out, from MFT that will be released TONIGHT, along with 6 other sets!!! It comes with SEVERAL different overlays for the two different trees (a solid one and a line image one). It also comes with several sentiments for all seasons, a nest, and a few bird images.

For this card, I stamped the flowers with Versamark, and added color with Pebbles Pearlescent Chalk in different shades of pink and purple. The bird was colored the same way with two different blue chalks. I punched the circle with the bird and elevated it for some dimension.

See below for some more detail...

I used my Nesties for the main image, a Maya Road clear flower, and some AC ribbon. The PP is Basic Gray's Euphoria, and I also used SU's brown brads. This sentiment came from the MFT set, Essential Sentiments.

Well, that's about it for my "teasers"! They will go LIVE tonight, and you can order them all, and make your own creations! :) Don't forget about the paper packs and ribbon, too! (I'm an enabler, I admit it...) ;)

Tomorrow is Prettie Thursday, so check back then for a "prettie" card! (wink)

Till later...

MFTeaser: Who's that Ghost (Flopsey)

How cute is this little ghost!? I love him! This is one of the sets to be released tomorrow night at MFT, called Who's that Ghost. (I also love the title!)

I used Copics to color the little guy, and sponged the edges with Tea Dye Ranger ink. The grass is from the It's a Jungle Out There set, and the bats are from the Fright Night set. The trick-or-treat bag (which is very dimensional) comes in this Flopsey set, along with several sentiments.

The PP is from Imaginisce, Hallowhimsey, as is the brad. I used my Threading Water punch for the border's edge, and added some Gunmetal Stickles to the holes. This is a 5 1/4 square card.

Well, that's about it for today. Tomorrow will bring a Teaser from the new set, called Branch Out!

One More Thing...

I forgot to tell you in my last post that Kim is having a big CONTEST over on the MFT forum. You'll definitely want to check it out. Here's some deets...

The contest consists of 10 questions, the answers for which will be emailed to contest@mftstamps.com, so a random winner from all the correct entries will be drawn. I thought since so often people stop doing the footwork, and just copy and paste, that it would be fairer to do it this way. The winner will receive a $25 gift certificate to the store!

The link to the forum is here...

Sound like fun!? Check it out!

BC Dzyns Teaser: Hey Chica!

I love this sentiment!!!

This is the first set from the debuting company under MFT, called BC Dzyns. The "B" is for Brianna, Kim's daughter, and the "C" is for Chesney, the artist who drew the images. I love how they're working together as mini stamping entrepreneurs! Brianna is an awesome girl, and I know that she will have mucho success with her new adventure! This set is called Hey Chica!

So, about the card... I used my Basic Gray Euphoria PP for the bkgd and for paper piecing her shirt. I used Nesties for cutting her out. The flower is Prima, the tiny black inner piece of the flower is a MFL flower punch, and I added a black glitter Bella Dot to the center. Ribbon is PTI.

She is colored with Copics, and can I just say that I love her black hair?! I think it makes her look so cool!

Here's the inside...
This set will be released on Wednesday night, along with 6 other MFT sets. There will also be two new paper packs and five rolls of ribbon being released that night! Make sure that you join us in the forum for sneak peeks, special offers and your chance to win some free stamps!!!

Now, I've got to run and have some "family time"! Tomorrow brings you a new Flopsey preview, so make sure that you stop on by then! Till later...
